Folie Douce Closing and VIP Ski End of Season Party

On the final Saturday, 4th May 2013 (the day before we left Val) was La Folie Douce closing party in the afternoon, and our VIP Ski end of season party in the evening. The Folie was absolutely packed and they had huge bubble machines on the roof so everyone came home soaked! In the evening our party was 90's Rave themed and held in the garage under one of the chalets. There was a BBQ and free bar and at the end the 'Chalet Host Awards' were given out.

The Last Day Off

On our last day off of the season I managed to get up for first lifts at 9am! (this is the first time all season I managed that). We went for a quick 2 hour ski before it got too slushy and then came back down the hill. In the afternoon we got the bus up the Valley and then hiked about half an hour along the river until we found a pool of water. We stopped off by this plunge pool with some food and drinks and despite it being ice cold melt water almost everyone jumped in, it was absolutely freezing, at most 1 degree and maybe colder!
After a few hours there we walked back and in the evening went for a Raclette at one of the popular restaurants, the Fromagerie.

Just to prove how cold it was... there was Ice Floating around.

On the way home we saw an Ibex grazing on the mountain.

MonoSkiing

In the last week of the season I tried Monoskiing on a board someone had found next to one of the bins in Val. Having never done it before I didn't know what to expect but I absolutely loved it. After a few runs to get used to it I found myself in the snow park with everyone else so decided to take on some of the jumps and rails!

Tony and Ben's Early 30th

Tony (T-Chien), one of the chalet hosts, and Ben (Sonic), the club chef, were both nearly 30 at the end of the season so we threw them an early birthday party where everyone dressed up as them….

VIP Ski Valley Rally

The VIP SKI Valley Rally was similar to the Rat Race, but only held for the VIP Ski staff in resort, again we were given clues in our teams, and told to take a photo at each location whilst completing a challenge. There were also bonus points available for kissing Pisteurs, getting into a Blood Wagon and Piste Basher as well as skiing a run with your trousers down. I dressed up as 'Saucer Boy' and competed on a pair of blades which made things interesting!
This was probably one of the best days all season and it was topped off when we won! Afterward we went back to the main staff accommodation and had a bbq/ played football and rugby in the sun.

When the Guests Left

In my chalet we didn't have any guests for the last 2 weeks of the season as there we no bookings, unfortunately this meant we got stuck cleaning for the best part of 3 weeks, however we did get to ski more and it was pretty relaxing in comparison to cooking a three course meal every night. We also decided that it was a good time to test out the hot-tub!

Some champagne guests gave us in the tub.
